Feels a little empty here
It does – localtrails.ch is just getting started, and only a few trails are on the map so far. It will stay that way for a while, and there is a reason for it.
How the map fills up
Every trail on this map is recorded by hand, by the people who build it, look after it or are responsible for it: drawn onto the path network, rated on the official Swiss scale and described from the ground. That takes time – but it means only official, maintained trails end up on the map.
Who can become an editor
We give editor access to people who look after trails on behalf of an organisation: bike clubs, trail builders, cable cars and bike parks, tourism destinations or municipalities. You get your own account and record the trails your organisation is responsible for. No technical skills needed: if you can read a map, you can draw a trail.
We deliberately do not give access to private individuals, however well they know their region. It is the only way to keep unofficial and illegal trails off the map – and the trouble they cause on the ground.
Write to us
Tell us briefly which organisation you are writing for, your role there and which trails it is about – we will get back to you personally.
Riding a trail that is missing here? Tell the club or destination that looks after it – that helps the most.
